Speak To Me Cleanly

A couple of things... first of all, this is my first blog from my brand new HP laptop, joint is fire right now, got a great deal courtesy of SlickDeals.net. Second, on the award tour with Obama my man made a stop in Germany and he gave a DOPE speech, you need to peep this:

Another way of looking at the Obama nomination

Its seems as though I have had to check a lot of Obama supporters lately, and though I prefer Obama to Clinton, there are a couple of discrepancies I have been noticing regarding democrats as of late. First, the outcry over the disenfranchisement of voters in Michigan and Florida has been negligent. Ironic, considering democrats were up in arms over the disenfranchisement of Florida voters just a few years ago in the presidential race against Bush. Second, Clinton is winning the popular vote, am I right? Again, democrats a few years cried and cried over flaws in the system when Bush lost the popular vote and won the election, well this delegate system is pure nonsense. Legislatively, the effect Obama/Clinton will have in office is basically the exact same, I do think that Obama can change the perception of our nation abroad and domestically more than Clinton, though, so I would tend to agree that Obama is the better chocie. But, to me, once Dennis Kucinich was out of the race, legislatively it didn’t matter much who won. But, I digress, I just wonder why people are calling for Clinton to drop out, when she is ahead in the popular vote, and very well could have been ahead in the delegate count had Florida and Michigan been able to vote.

Clinton Stoops to a New Low

So yesterday, when Senator Hillary Clinton was explaining why she was still remaining in the race, even despite the fact that it is a logistic impossibility for her to gain the nominating, referenced the RFK assassination. Here is the run down in simple terms with a few quotes thrown in:

---------

Barack Obama urges Clinton to withdraw from the race and end the harm she is indubitably causing the democratic party.

Senator Clinton remarks "historically, that makes no sense."

We all ask, well, why does it make no sense when you have no chance?

Clinton: "'My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right?... We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.'"

-----------

So, Clinton is again trying to reach out to a white voting base and say, "hey you can't vote for this black guy, he is just going to get assassinated". Call it a misinterpretation all you want, but, you can't really misinterpret that quote, as far as I'm concerned. This is not far off from her telling voters in West Virginia that Obama is unelectable as a black man against McCain, she later apologized for those remarks, but this is just another notch on the belt of a long line of outlandish remarks from the Clinton campaign. I used to have respect from her, but after watching the dirty politics game she played after falling victim to one of the biggest political upsets in American history, I guess I can't blame her. Yes I can.

I Do What I Do, But What Do I Do?

Im thinking about starting a podcast that I will post on here, what do you think about that idea? Anyway, I just realized I have been doing this blog and I've nearly hit 50 posts and I've never even told anyone "about me". So here it goes...

I have never been good at describing myself, it is a daunting task if you think about it, especially for someone as young as myself. If I had to guess, my troubles in creating a relevant and meaningful ''About Me'' paragraph stem from the fact that I have yet to truly discover what ''makes'' me who I am. However, I do know that my passions in life include politics, rap and soul music, talk radio, and sports, all in no particular order. I have spent time working in a number of different fields, starting with a 3-year stint as a youth sports instructor at the YMCA. Next was a 2-year period working retail, and I have since moved on to bigger and better things as an intern at a major health care provider. While my internship has given me an amazing opportunity and I am extremely gracious to be spending my summers in a professional working atmosphere, learning a bevy of useful things in the IT field and having insight shed upon me regarding the bureaucracy and politicking that goes on in the business world, it has really opened my eyes to the fact that, while financially lucrative as it is, I do not want to spend my life pushing papers. I feel as though I offer unique perspectives on current events, worldly topics, and life in general, and am hoping to find an outlet be it through radio, print, television, or some other medium in which to share my ideas with the world. Hence, why I started this blog. Mostly, though, I just hope to find happiness and joy in life.

No Justice in Sean Bell Slaying

I doubt many of you remember the case, but in 2006, Sean Bell an unarmed man, was shot down outside a nightclub in Queens, NY the night before his wedding. Not only did the murder raise eyebrows because Bell was unarmed, but also there were 50 bullets shot at Bell, "overkill" to say the least. This morning, though, the three officers involved were acquitted of all charges and will walk freely. The justice system in regards to police officers is becoming more and more of a joke, believe me, I appreciate what the police are doing in our communities and view them as the vital key to society that they are, but you have to draw a line somewhere. I'm not going to sit here and say "I hate cops", or anything foolish like that, but one has to admit there are a plenty of bad apples who are on power trips, this is a very applicable example. It's time the justice system take notice.

Obama vs. Clinton - In Black and White

When is the media going to stop dancing around the racism amongst voters in this campaign? All you have to do is compare the votes from white non-college graduates to black non-college graduates and you can see that it is not the economy that is the prime issue, rather, it is race. Two out of three white voters earning under $50,000/yr prefer Sen. Hilary Clinton, in most interviews shown on CNN they point to either a need for economic reform and Sen. Clinton's experience in that category. Will somebody please enlighten me on Clinton's so-called experience? Because, last I checked, Obama's experience is essentially the exact same as Clinton's, unless you count being the first lady as experience. Don't get me wrong, the first lady is very important, she serves as a diplomat oversees (often dodging enemy sniper fire as she de-boards the plane, ha) as well as serving as a key orchestrator for other charitable work both domestic and abroad, but the bottom line is she does not deal with legislation. She did nothing to stimulate the economy, her husband did, and though Bill is a part of the campaign, he is not her running mate. So please, spare me the scripted answers and simply admit to your hesitance to vote a half black man into office.

Spike Lee Weighs In On The Democratic Primary Race

Regardless of what you think about celebrities and their opinions on political issues or campaigns, there is no denying they have some effect (however large or small it may be), this though got a chuckle out of me. Courtesy of Spike Lee ladies and gentleman...

What do you think of Obama?

I’m riding my man Obama. I think he’s a visionary. Actually, Barack told me the first date he took Michelle to was Do the Right Thing. I said, “Thank God I made it. Otherwise you would have taken her to Soul Man. Michelle would have been like, ‘What’s wrong with this brother?’ ”

Does this mean you’re down on the Clintons?
The Clintons, man, they would lie on a stack of Bibles. Snipers? That’s not misspeaking; that’s some pure bulls***. I voted for Clinton twice, but that’s over with. These old black politicians say, “Ooh, Massuh Clinton was good to us, massuh hired a lot of us, massuh was good!” Hoo! Charlie Rangel, David Dinkins—they have to understand this is a new day. People ain’t feelin’ that stuff. It’s like a tide, and the people who get in the way are just gonna get swept out into the ocean.
